Referee Program

At Samford Rangers we have two types of Referees:

  • Miniroos Referees
  • Club Referees

This season, Samford Rangers will deliver a referee program to develop a squad of Miniroos and Club referees to officiate at our home games.  The Samford Rangers program is being developed to provide appropriate training and support.  This program provides a foundation to develop our juniors into club referees.  Regular Wednesday night training sessions will be run this year.

All Miniroos and Club Referees will be provided with a Referee shirt and whistle.

We would welcome any adults, with experience in the game, interested in being a Referee for senior games.

Miniroos Referees (Under 6 to Under 12)

If you meet the following criteria, we need you!

  • Play in Under 12 or above this season
  • Available to referee on Saturday mornings
  • Can attend referee training nights
  • Can act responsibly on and off the field
  • Will attend games punctually
  • Must have completed Online Laws of the Game (link below)

Club Referee (Under 13 and up)

Must have completed Online Laws of the Game and have been assessed by one of our experienced club referee mentors.

Club referees are Central Referee or Assistant Referee (linesman) for Juniors (Under 13 to Under 18) and Assistant Referee for senior football.  Essentially, each week, Club Referees fill spots not filled by Football Queensland Referees.

The Samford Rangers program is being developed to provide appropriate training and support.  This program provides a foundation to develop our juniors into club referees.

To become a Club Referee, you must complete the online laws of the game.  Once you have completed this the club will work with you to develop your skills.  The club highly recommends Club Referee’s to attend the Football Queensland Level 4 Referee course (must be 13 years of age), to both help develop you as a referee and to enable you to enter higher levels of refereeing.
